MMEETT's warranty team replaces less than 0.8% of cards annually. 92% of "dead" cards reported by customers are revived with one of the steps below.
If you have an active smart card like MMEETT C04, a drained battery is the most common cause of zero response. Connect the card to a USB-C cable for at least 15 minutes. The LED should blink red while charging. If no LED appears after 30 minutes, the battery or charging circuit may be damaged.
Dirt, oil, and moisture on the card surface block the NFC signal. Wipe the card with a dry microfiber cloth. For stubborn residue, use a cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol (70%). Let it dry completely before testing. Do not use water on smart cards with exposed ports.
A single phone with disabled NFC or a weak antenna can make a good card appear dead. Test the card on at least two different phones — one iPhone and one Android. If it works on one but not the other, the problem is the phone, not the card.
Hold the card up to a bright light and look for:
If any of these are present, the card's antenna coil or chip is likely damaged and the card needs replacement.
Strong magnetic fields can corrupt or erase NFC chip data. Common sources include:
If the card was exposed to any of these, reprogram it. If reprogramming fails, the chip is permanently damaged.
Sometimes the tag data becomes corrupted in a way that prevents any phone from recognizing it. Use NFC Tools to erase the tag completely, then write fresh data. If the erase fails, the chip is likely dead.
If all six steps fail, the card has a hardware defect. Contact the manufacturer with:
MMEETT offers a 12-month replacement warranty on all C04 cards. Most replacement requests are processed within 2 business days.
| Symptom | Likely Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No vibration, no LED | Dead battery | Charge 30+ minutes |
| Vibration but no popup | Corrupted data | Erase and re-program |
| Works on one phone only | Phone NFC issue | Fix phone settings |
| Intermittent response | Dirty surface or weak antenna | Clean card, remove case |
| No response on any phone | Physical damage or dead chip | Replace card |
A completely unresponsive NFC card is usually caused by a dead battery (for smart cards), physical damage to the antenna or chip, demagnetization from strong magnets, or corrupted data that prevents the phone from recognizing the tag.
Standard household magnets are safe. Strong industrial magnets (rare-earth neodymium) above 1 Tesla can demagnetize or damage the NFC chip's memory. Keep cards away from MRI machines, strong speakers, and industrial equipment.
Look for cracks in the card body, bends, water damage, or separation of layers. If the card feels soft, warped, or has visible cracks in the antenna area, it is likely damaged beyond repair.
Passive NFC tags are surprisingly water-resistant and often survive brief exposure. Active smart cards with batteries and electronics can be damaged by moisture ingress. Dry the card completely for 48 hours before testing.
First charge it (if smart card), clean it, test on multiple phones, and inspect for physical damage. If none of these work, contact the manufacturer for a replacement. MMEETT offers a 12-month warranty on all cards.
