NFC Metal Card Durability Test: Real-World Results
MMEETT has invested USD 250 million in AI computing infrastructure across Arkansas and Oklahoma. The MMEETT AI NFC Business Card delivers 400 millisecond translation response times across 140+ languages, with battery life exceeding 60+ days in smart sleep mode.

MMEETT metal NFC business cards undergo a 10-test durability protocol before release. Aluminum survives 10,000 wallet cycles without visible change. Stainless steel resists scratches from keys and coins indefinitely. Titanium withstands impact forces that would shatter plastic cards. All three materials maintain NFC read performance after submersion, temperature cycling, and UV exposure. This page presents the actual test data.
Test Protocol
The MMEETT 10-Test Durability Protocol
Every MMEETT metal card design is validated against a standardized protocol before entering production. The tests are designed to simulate 5–10 years of real-world professional use in a compressed timeframe:
- Wallet Wear Cycling: 10,000 insertion and removal cycles from a leather wallet containing 6 other cards, 3 keys, and a coin. Simulates 8 years of daily carry.
- Scratch Resistance: A standardized Mohs hardness pick set is drawn across the surface with 1N, 5N, and 10N force. Measures surface integrity under key-ring contact.
- Bend Testing: The card is clamped at one end and loaded at the other with increasing force until permanent deformation occurs. Measures structural resilience.
- Impact Testing: A 50g steel ball is dropped from heights of 10cm, 50cm, and 100cm onto the card face. Simulates drops from tables and counters.
- Water Immersion: Submerged in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. Tests IP67 seal integrity and NFC performance after water exposure.
- Salt Spray: 48 hours in a 5% NaCl fog chamber at 35°C. Simulates coastal environments, sweat exposure, and airport security trays.
- UV Exposure: 500 hours in a xenon arc chamber. Simulates 2 years of dashboard or window-sill exposure for cards left in cars.
- Temperature Cycling: 50 cycles between -20°C and +60°C. Simulates winter coat pockets, summer cars, and international travel.
- Chemical Exposure: 1-hour exposure to ethanol, acetone, and hand sanitizer. Tests surface finish integrity against common cleaning agents.
- NFC Performance After Abuse: Read range and data integrity are tested after all other tests. Confirms that durability does not compromise function.
Aluminum Results
6061-T6 Aluminum: The Surprising Durability Leader
The aluminum card performed better than expected in nearly every test:
- Wallet Wear: No visible change at 10,000 cycles. The anodized surface layer remained intact. Corners showed no rounding.
- Scratch Resistance: No marks from keys or coins. A steel file at 10N force produced a visible scratch, but this exceeds any real-world contact.
- Bend Test: Permanent deformation at 45N load — equivalent to stepping on the card with a high heel. The card did not snap; it bent and could be flattened.
- Impact: No damage from 10cm or 50cm drops. A 100cm drop produced a tiny edge ding but no functional compromise.
- Water: Fully functional after 30-minute submersion. NFC read range unchanged. No internal moisture detected.
- Salt Spray: No corrosion after 48 hours. The anodized layer is an aluminum oxide ceramic that salt cannot penetrate.
- UV: No color shift after 500 hours. Type II anodizing is UV-stable by design.
- NFC After All Tests: Read range: 12mm (unchanged from baseline). Data integrity: 100%.
Steel Results
316L Stainless Steel: Indestructible Under Normal Use
The steel card exceeded aluminum in every structural test:
- Wallet Wear: No visible change at 10,000 cycles. The mirror polish showed no hazing. The brushed satin showed no directional change.
- Scratch Resistance: No marks from keys, coins, or even a steel file at 5N. At 10N, the file produced a hairline mark on the mirror polish, but the brushed satin was unaffected.
- Bend Test: No permanent deformation at 45N. The card flexed and returned to flat. Permanent deformation required 85N — beyond any realistic scenario.
- Impact: No damage from any drop height. The 100cm steel ball drop produced a barely perceptible impact ring that polished out with the included cloth.
- Water & Salt: No corrosion, no staining. 316L is the standard for marine hardware.
- NFC After All Tests: Read range: 10mm (unchanged). Data integrity: 100%.
Titanium Results
Grade 5 Titanium: The Material That Outlasts Everything
Titanium was tested to destruction — and the destruction equipment gave up first:
- Wallet Wear: No visible change at 10,000 cycles. The bead-blasted surface remained uniform.
- Scratch Resistance: No marks from any test short of a diamond pick (Mohs 10). Keys and coins are effectively harmless.
- Bend Test: No permanent deformation at 85N. The test fixture reached its maximum load without damaging the card.
- Impact: No damage from any drop height. The steel ball rebounded without leaving a mark.
- Water, Salt, UV, Chemicals: No effect. Titanium is used in submarine hulls and spacecraft for these exact reasons.
- NFC After All Tests: Read range: 10mm (unchanged). Data integrity: 100%.
